Istanbul Metro Lines to Be Launched in 2020

Work is underway to complete the advanced stages of Istanbul metro lines in preparation for their activation and launch during the next year 2020. However, the metropolitan recently witnessed the inauguration of the Gebze-Halkali railway line, which consists of 43 stations connecting the two sides of Istanbul and facilitating traffic between them.

In addition to Istanbul 2019 metro lines, work is underway to open the stations of Istanbul 2020 metro lines. Also, the traveler coming to Istanbul will be able to transfer via the Istanbul metro from the airport to the place he or she wants along with this beautiful city.

New Istanbul Metro 2020

Construction work continues for three new lines that the Greater Istanbul Municipality has planned to open in 2020, so what are the new Istanbul metro lines? Where do they pass from?

Istanbul Sabiha Airport Metro (Sabiha Airport - Tavsantepe)

The first metro to be built for Sabiha Airport, and the new metro line will make access to Sabiha Airport much easier than before.

The line extends for a length of 7.40 km, and it takes 11.5 minutes to cross it, passing through five stations:

• Sabiha Airport (Sabiha Gökçen Havalimanı)
• Industrial Zone (Sanayi)
• Yayalar
• The Hospital – (Hastane)
• Tavşantepe

The new line will be integrated with other metro lines as follows:

• With the Sabiha - Tuzla airport line at the Sabiha airport metro station.
• With the Kaynarca Merkez - Pendik Sahil center line at Hastane station.
• With the (Kadıköy - Kartal - Tavşantepe) line
• Transportation from Sabiha Airport to Taksim

Note: Those who want to transfer from Sabiha airport to Istanbul's new airport will be able to take a bus that takes them directly from Yenikapi or Taksim to the airport after leaving the metro station.

Istanbul Metro Line (Dudullu - Bostanci)

Dudullu-Bostancı line will extend 14.30 km, and the journey time will be 15 minutes, and it will form a link between the areas (Kadikoy - Maltepe - Ataşehir - ümraniye).

This line will pass through 13 stations as shown on the  below map:

This line will be integrated with other metro lines as follows:

• At Bostanci station with the lines of IDO and Marmaray
• At the Kozyatagi station, with the Kadikoy - Tavsantepe line
• At Dudullu Station, Uskudar Line - Umraniye - Cekmekoy / Sancaktepe
• At the (Mevlana) station with Altunzade line - Atasehir - Sancaktepe - Sultanbeyli - Sabiha Airport.

Third Line (Bogazici Hisarüstü Aşiyan - Funukler)

It will be only 800 meters long, a passenger journey will last 2.5 minutes, and will consist of two stations, as shown in the picture:

New Istanbul Airport Metro Line 2020

According to a statement by Turkish media sources, the new Istanbul Airport metro line is expected to be opened in the first phase at the end of the current year for the year 2020, and the new Istanbul airport metro will connect between central Istanbul and the new Istanbul airport. However, many stations have begun to be complete, such as Ihsan - Icler – Otogar Goktürk and kemerburgaz, among others

The distance of the new Istanbul Airport metro line is approximately 70 kilometers, and it is expected that the metro will connect to the Metrobus line covering the European and Asian side şişhane - Taksim - 4.Levent Hacıosman Metro Line.
